If you’ve ever thought, “screens are too much in our house”… but had no idea how to actually fix it without meltdowns, guilt, or going cold turkey — this is for you.
I know that feeling because we were living it.
Screens had slowly become the thing my kids waited for, asked for, and relied on when they were bored. And I kept thinking, there has to be a better way to do this… but every resource I found felt unrealistic, extreme, or impossible to follow in real life.
So I created the guide I wish I had back then.
The Gentle Tech Detox Guide.
Why I Created This Guide
This didn’t come from theory. It came from trial, error, frustration, and finally finding what actually worked in our home.
I didn’t want:
an all-or-nothing plan
a “throw the iPads away” approach
or a system that only works for perfect families
I needed something gradual. Realistic. Repeatable.
Something that helped my kids:
stop waiting around for screen time
stop saying they were bored
start becoming more imaginative, independent, and connected again
And that’s exactly what this plan does.
What Makes This Different From Other “Screen Detox” Advice
Most advice makes it sound like screens are the enemy.
This guide shows you how to reset your relationship with them, replace the habits that aren’t working, and reintroduce technology in a healthier way.
Inside, you’ll find:
Signs your child may be experiencing too much screen time
Why a tech detox is necessary — and why simple time limits aren’t enough
Exactly how to start reducing screens without meltdowns
How to execute a tech detox and build a plan that works for your family (with inspiration from what worked in ours)
Easy scripts for what to say before and during the detox
A done-for-you non-tech after school routine
Boredom activities kids will actually do
Reflection pages, trackers, and assessments to guide you
How to reset screen habits without feeling like the bad guy
How to thoughtfully reintroduce tech after the detox
Support, resources, and practical tools you can keep using long after the 30 days
A realistic 30-day plan you can follow step by step

This isn't about being perfect. It's about having a plan.
How to Use the Guide
This is a digital download, so you can use it in whatever way works best for you:
Fill it out digitally on your phone, tablet, or computer
Print it and keep it on the counter as a daily reference
Follow it day by day, or move at your own pace
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to do it all at once. You just have to start!
What Happened in Our Home After Following This Plan
This is the part I didn’t expect.
The constant asking for screens slowed down. The “I’m bored” comments almost disappeared. My kids started playing longer, using their imagination more, and relying on screens less without us constantly fighting about it. Screens stopped being the center of our home. And that’s when I knew I needed to turn this into a guide for other parents.
Who This Is For
This guide is for you if:
You feel like screens have quietly taken over
You know it’s too much but feel overwhelmed on where to start
You don’t want to go cold turkey
You want a calmer, more connected home without constant battles
