75 Soft: My Realistic New Years Reset

I’m usually not one for New Year’s resolutions — actually, I hate them if I’m being honest. Not because I don’t believe in growth or change, but because resolutions often come with an unrealistic expectation that life somehow resets on January 1st. As if our schedules suddenly slow down, our responsibilities disappear, and we’re handed unlimited energy and motivation overnight.
That’s just not real life.
January, especially for me, tends to be one of the hardest months to force big change. It’s cold in WI, gets dark at 4:30pm, and naturally is slower. Most of us are coming off a busy holiday season, returning to full schedules, and trying to catch up mentally and emotionally. Yet this is the month we’re told to overhaul everything at once — our routines, habits, goals, and identity.
It's no surprise that most people who start with these huge expectations on January 1st end up giving up by the 15th. That doesn’t mean they failed. It usually just means the expectations were never designed to be sustainable.
For many women, change is layered on top of already full lives — mental load, caregiving, work, emotional labor, and responsibilities that don’t pause while habits form. When a system doesn’t leave room for flexibility, rest, or real life, consistency becomes fragile. Eventually, something gives.
That’s not a discipline problem. It’s a design problem.
A Softer, More Sustainable Approach
This is where 75 Soft comes in.
75 Soft isn’t about doing less or lowering standards. It’s about approaching consistency differently. Instead of asking you to push harder or be more rigid, it focuses on building habits that can actually coexist with your life as it is — not your life in an ideal, perfectly controlled scenario.
The goal isn’t to change everything at once. It’s to create a lifestyle shift through routines you can return to, even when things feel busy, unpredictable, or imperfect. When habits are designed to be maintainable, they stop feeling temporary and start becoming part of everyday life. That’s what makes change last.
I couldn’t find a 75 Soft guide I loved — one that felt realistic, supportive, and built for real life. So I created my own. Inside the guide, I included a full rules list, a 3-month accountability tracker, monthly goal-setting sheets, a reusable daily gratitude prompt, and a complete resource guide with my favorite nutrition tips, workouts, and tools to support you along the way.
