Diapers: a basic need, not all families have

Thank you Huggies® for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.

Dominik and I went to Walmart the other day and left with a cart full of Huggies® diapers…

I remember bringing Dominik home, one year ago, to a closet filled with diapers. In the newborn days we went through so many diapers a day… It is an item we don’t even think twice about because it is a basic need. Of all the things we learned about diapers in the first few weeks of Dom’s life including….

  1. The strip in the front of the diaper changes color when it’s wet

  2. Pull the diaper leg ruffles out to prevent leaking

  3. GO FAST and move out of the way, babies pee when they please

  4. Blowouts will happen, have extra diapers nearby

  5. Don’t change the diaper on your white bedsheets at 3 am (or do, if you’re brave)

The most surprising…and also most important thing I learned was that not every family has the luxury of having a closet filled with diapers. Did you know that 1 in 3 families struggle to provide diapers for their baby? Of parents in diaper need, 3-in-5 report missing work or school because they lack the diapers required to place their child in daycare. Something so basic, many of us take for granted.

In recognition of National Diaper Need Awareness week (September 23-29) I have partnered with Huggies to shine light on something SO important…

The need for diapers.

With every one Huggies diaper purchase through the month of September at your local Walmart or Wamart.com, Huggies will donate two days’ worth of diapers (up to ONE MILLION diapers to the National Diaper Bank Network). How can we, the Balkanina community, help families in need?

It’s easy…
