If there's one question that fills my DMs regarding jeans, it's always "what Abercrombie jeans do you recommend as an inverted triangle?" So I finally sat down, tried on every single pair I own, and put together this guide. I'm breaking down my 7 favorite & NEW Abercrombie jeans. What makes each one work, how they fit through the waist, hips, and legs, and which ones I'd actually recommend for my body type specifically. Consider this your new go-to reference guide any time you're deciding which pair to add to cart.

My Stats: True Size 10/30, 5' 5'', Inverted Triangle (narrow hips & broad shoulders)

Key Things to Know About Abercrombie Jeans

Before we get into my favorites, here are a few things worth knowing about how Abercrombie builds their denim:

  • Inclusive sizing from 23 to 38.

  • Five inseam lengths: Extra Short, Short, Regular, Long, and Extra Long.

  • Curve Love styles with an extra two inches through the hips and thighs to help reduce waist gaps.

  • Tons of denim washes, from classic blues to seasonal colors.

  • Trend-forward details like cuffed hems, special embellishments, and new seasonal releases.

Understanding "Curve Love"

Choose Curve Love if you:

  • Have wider hips and thighs.

  • Often struggle with a waist gap.

  • Have a curvier or pear-shaped figure.

  • Want a less fitted feel through the hips and thighs.

Choose the Classic fit if you:

  • Have a straighter body shape.

  • Don't typically experience a waist gap.

  • Prefer a slightly more tailored fit through the hips and thighs.

For those of us who are midsize with an inverted triangle or boxy shape, we're usually in Classic fit territory, most of us don't deal with a waist gap the way curvier shapes do, so the extra room Curve Love adds through the hip and thigh isn't always necessary. That said, it's worth trying both if you're in between, since fit can vary style by style.

All the Jeans at a glance

Curve Love High Rise 90's Relaxed

The Curve Love High Rise 90's Relaxed Jean is a great option if you do want a little extra room through the hip and thigh without going fully wide-leg. I sized into a 30R and found the denim very stretchy while still staying firm through the waist, so it holds its shape all day without stretching out. The Curve Love cut gives you that extra two inches through the hips and thighs specifically to reduce waist gap, and it still falls into that classic, timeless straight leg that never really goes out of style. I wore mine in a dark wash with distressing for a slightly more relaxed, lived-in look.

My size: 30R

Wash: Dark Knee Destroy

Best for: Anyone who wants a little extra hip and thigh room with a straight-leg silhouette, or anyone still figuring out if Curve Love is right for them.

High Rise Wide Leg

The High Rise Wide Leg Jean comes in both a classic dark wash and a light wash, and I love both for slightly different reasons. I wear a 30R in this style, and the denim is a lightweight, rigid fabric that genuinely does not accentuate the tummy area, which I really appreciate for a wide-leg style. It's relaxed through the waist and hips before flowing into a slight wide leg, so it's forgiving without being overly baggy. It also does a great job elongating your legs and making them look a mile long, which is a win for anyone on the shorter or curvier side. The dark wash feels more polished and easier to dress up, while the light wash leans more casual and effortless for daytime.

My size: 30R

Left Wash: Dark

Right Wash: Medium

Best for: Anyone who wants a wide-leg jean that won't cling to the tummy, and wants the leg-lengthening effect a wide leg naturally gives.

High Rise Barrel

The High Rise Barrel Jean might be my most-recommended pair for our exact body type. I sized into a medium wash 30R, and this one is genuinely built with inverted triangle, apple, and square shapes in mind - it's called out specifically as approved for those shapes, which is rare to see. It's relaxed through the waist and hips, but the subtle barrel shape tapers in at the ankle, which helps visually define the waist even if you don't have a dramatic hourglass shape naturally. If you're someone who carries more weight in your midsection or wants a jean that creates the illusion of a waist without being tight or restrictive, this is the one to try first.

My size: 30R

Wash: Light

Best for: Inverted triangle, apple, and square shapes who want a flattering, waist-defining silhouette without any tightness through the hips or thighs.

Low Rise Ultra Loose

The Low Rise Ultra Loose Jean is Abercrombie's best-selling jean, and after trying it in three different washes (washed black, medium wash, and a dark wash with a cuff detail) I completely understand why. Despite the "low rise" name, it actually fits closer to a mid rise on me, which is great news if you're wary of true low-rise styles. It's relaxed through the waist and hips with a baggier leg, and while there's no stretch in the denim, it stays loose and comfortable all day rather than feeling restrictive.

I sized into a 30R across all three washes. The washed black is far and away the most versatile, easy to dress up or down and pairs with almost everything. The medium wash feels more casual and everyday, and the dark wash with the cuff detail adds a little extra visual interest if you want something with a bit more personality.

My size: 30R

Left Wash: Medium Wash

Middle Wash: Washed Black

Right Wash: Dark Cuff

Best for: Anyone who wants an easy, no-stretch baggy jean that still feels comfortable, and wants the flexibility of choosing a wash to match their personal style.
